Alleged N1Bn Fraud: EFCC Arraigns Ex-ABU VC, Bursar

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Garba before Kaduna State High Court over alleged laundering of N1bn.

A statement on Thursday by the anti-graft agency’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said, Prof. Garba was arraigned alongside the institution’s former bursar, Ibrahim Shehu Usman, following months of discreet investigation triggered by a petition accusing the duo of diverting monies meant for the renovation of the popular Kongo Conference Hotel, Zaria.

TheFact Daily gathers that the duo was arraigned before Justice A.A Bello of the State High Court on an eight count charge bordering on theft and money laundering to the tune of over N1billion by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC.

According to the statement, the investigation established that over N1bn was allegedly stolen from different accounts of the institution by the defendants and diverted into their private accounts.
