On the production side, NNPC recorded crude oil and condensate output of 1.73 million barrels per day, alongside natural gas of 7,774 million standard cubic feet per day. Upstream pipeline availability held at 98%, while PMS (petrol) availability stood at 57% for the month.

The company said it is intensifying efforts to tackle performance issues, declining reservoir pressure, lifting constraints, maintenance-related shutdowns, and facility reliability challenges -measures it expects would cut production deferments boost both asset availability and overall output.
Two major gas infrastructure projects also recorded notable progress during the month.

The Ajoakuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) mainline pipeline, aimed at delivering gas to Abuja, later this year, reached 94% completion, with construction, installation, and pre-commissioning work advancing steadily.

Meanwhile, the OB3 River Niger Crossing project hit 97% completion, with post-pullback pre-commissioning and tie-in work progressing toward a target of fully commissioning the pipeline section by the end of the third quarter of this year (2026).

Beyond its core oil and gas operations, NNPC also highlighted a healthcare initiative delivered through the NNPC Foundation. On May 15, 2026, the Foundation commissioned and handed over a 1.5 Tesla MRI system, complete with chillers, an interruptible power supply, battery racks, and backup power to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi, Anambrate State.

Ahead of the commissioning, 40 patients received free MRI scans as part of a training programme organised by GE for Radiologists and Radiographers at the facility.

NNPC said the equipment is already expanding access to advanced diagnostic services in the south-East, cutting down the need for patients to be referred elsewhere, supporting earlier disease detection, and strengthening specialist care delivery in the region.

The company described the donation as part of its broader commitment to improving healthcare access and supporting national development alongside its energy sector operations.
