Customs Invites 3,852 Successful Candidates For Final Recruitment Screening

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has invited 3,852 successful candidates for physical screening and documentation as it enters the final stage of its 2024/2025 recruitment exercise.
The Deputy Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed this on Tuesday.
The recruitment exercise, which opened in December 2024, attracted 573,680 applications but produced only 3,852 successful candidates, representing a success rate of 0.67 per cent, or roughly one successful applicant for every 148 applicants. The successful candidates comprise 1,275 in the Superintendent Cadre, 367 in the Inspectorate Cadre and 2,210 in the Customs Assistant Cadre.
According to Maiwada, the exercise is scheduled to hold at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja. He added that candidates are required to appear with the original and photocopies of their National Identification Number, birth certificate or declaration of age, educational certificates, certificate of state of origin, two recent passport photographs, completed guarantor’s form and NYSC certificate, where applicable. They are also expected to wear a white T-shirt, shorts and canvas shoes.
Furthermore, candidates must report strictly on the dates allocated to their respective states and cadres. Attendance is compulsory, while failure to appear as scheduled could lead to disqualification.
The prolonged recruitment process had generated concerns among applicants, prompting the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, to apologise for the delay when the final list was released in August.
He attributed the lengthy process to the unusually high volume of applications and multiple stages of screening and verification.
The NCS reiterated that recruitment is free and warned candidates against fraudsters seeking payment in exchange for employment. Adeniyi also announced that the Service would adopt an annual recruitment cycle, with the 2026 exercise expected to commence later this year and be completed within one calendar year.
