Eid-el-Maulud: NUJ FCT Chair Congratulates Muslims, Preaches Peace, Unity

As Muslims in Nigeria and across the world celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW), the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has extended her heartfelt felicitations to them, calling for peace and unity in the country.

In a message commemorating the day, Comrade Ike urged journalists, especially those who are Muslims to draw lessons from the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) commitment to honesty, justice and compassion as they carry out their professional duties.

Ike described Maulud as a significant occasion that recalls the exemplary life and teachings of the Prophet, including his dedication to peace, humility and love for humanity, noting that these virtues hold particular relevance for the media profession.

“At a time when our nation needs greater unity, tolerance and mutual understanding, the teachings of the Prophet provide enduring lessons on peaceful coexistence and respect for one another,” the statement read.

She urged Muslim faithful to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace, stability and prosperity in Nigeria, while also promoting dialogue and tolerance among the nation’s diverse communities.

The NUJ FCT Council further reaffirmed its commitment to responsible journalism, professional excellence and the protection of values that strengthen democracy and society, with Ike specifically calling on media practitioners to uphold truth, justice and humanity in their reporting.

She concluded by praying that Almighty Allah accept the nation’s prayers and bless Nigeria with peace and prosperity, wishing all Muslim faithful a happy Maulid celebration.
