The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disengaged forty-three personnel over offences bordering on desertion, scandalous conduct, and patrol misconduct.
The Corps’ spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to him, thirty-one officers were dismissed for desertion, five for scandalous behaviour, and seven for patrol-related misconduct.
“The action underscores the Corps’ firm commitment to discipline and accountability”, Ogungbemide stated, even as he emphasized that the FRSC badge represents honour and responsibility, and any officer who violates its standards will face the full weight of its disciplinary processes.
The Corps Marshal, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, described the decision as a clear reaffirmation of the Corps’ zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline and ethical breaches.
He noted that the FRSC, as a professional paramilitary organisation governed by strict operational standards, will not condone any conduct capable of undermining public trust, institutional integrity, or its mandate.
According to him, desertion constitutes a serious breach of service oath and operational duty in a safety-critical organisation charged with protecting millions of road users daily.
He added that scandalous behaviour and patrol misconduct erode public confidence and run contrary to the Corps’ core values of discipline, transparency, and service excellence.
The Corps assured Nigerians that it will continue to strengthen internal monitoring, enhance supervisory mechanisms, and promote ethical standards across all Commands nationwide.
Management, it stated, remains committed to building a professional workforce anchored on integrity, discipline, and operational excellence.
The FRSC called on the motoring public to maintain confidence in the Corps and continue supporting its mandate of ensuring safer roads for all.
