It noted five of the universities joined the rankings for first time this year, while federal universities account for five of Nigeria’s seven universities in top 1200.

The group attributed development to ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration and Ministry of Education efforts to improve quality, competitiveness and global visibility of tertiary education.

It said increased participation and improved performance are linked to Renewed Hope Agenda for Education and Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative which emphasise research excellence, innovation, institutional performance and international competitiveness.

TMV added that available records show upward movement in number of Nigerian universities assessed from 24 to 61.

The group also acknowledged stability in universities since inception of Tinubu administration with absence of industrial actions and prompt payment of salaries and allowances.

It applauded Federal Government for attention to tertiary education which it said led to global recognition for Nigerian universities.
