Just In: Police Council Confirms Usman Alkali Baba As IGP

The Nigerian Police Council has confirmed Alhaji Usman Alkali Baba as the substantive Inspector General of Police, IGP.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, confirmed the development during a briefing after a meeting that had earlier held, and presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Thefact Nigeria had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had, on 6 April, appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police DIG Usman Alkali Baba as the new IGP in an acting capacity, to replace Mohammed Adamu Abubakar.

Alhaji Dingyadi quoted President Buhari as urging the IGP to justify the confidence reposed in him by reducing the rising wave of insecurity in the country.

It would be recalled that Usman Alkali Baba, had in a recent video, addressed police officers and men, and charged them to take the war against insecurity to the gates of the enemies of Nigeria.
