AfroBasket: Tinubu Sends Delegation To Cheer D’Tigress In Abidjan

President Bola Tinubu has dispatched a Presidential Delegation to Abidjan to encourage D’Tigress as they pursue a fifth consecutive AfroBasket title for Nigeria.

Tinubu said the delegation led by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, represents the full weight of the nation’s national pride, belief, and support.

“Our girls have shown character, discipline, and the Nigerian spirit in every game. As they prepare for the final in two hours, we stand behind them – not just as fans, but as a grateful nation inspired by their excellence,” the President said in a post on his X handle on Sunday.

Other members of the delegation include, Hon. Kabiru Mai Palace – Chairman House Committee on Sports, Imaan Suleiman – Honourable Minister, Women Affairs, Hannatu Musawa – Honourable Minister, Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Doris Uzoka-Anite – Honourable Minister, (State) Finance, Sunday Dare – Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, O’tega Ogra – Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, Engagement & New Media Strategy, Oyinade Nathan-Marsh – Senior Special Assistant to the President (Office of the Chief of Staff), wnd Kukoyi Olubosola – Senior Special Assistant to the President (Office of the First Lady).

President Tinubu had earlier congratulated D’Tigress, on their remarkable achievement of reaching the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket for the fifth consecutive time, following a hard-fought victory over Senegal.
