The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom from November 3 to 27, 2026, to accommodate more Nigerians seeking passport services.
The Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, announced the extension in a public notice dated Tuesday, October 27, attributing the decision to sustained demand for the exercise.
TheFact Daily reports that the intervention was initially announced in August 2026, with a dedicated team deployed from the NIS headquarters in Abuja to work with the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
The exercise, which commenced on September 7, was introduced to ease passport application and renewal difficulties, address pending applications and bring services closer to Nigerians across different UK cities. Its subsequent extensions followed high turnout and sustained demand.
According to the latest notice, the exercise will continue at four designated centres in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff.
The London and Manchester centres will operate from November 3 to 27, while the Aberdeen and Cardiff centres will attend to applicants from November 3 to 6.
The London centre is located at 56–57 Fleet Street, Temple, London EC4Y 1JU, while the Manchester centre is at Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE.
In Aberdeen, applicants will be attended to at Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR, while the Cardiff centre is at Western Leisure Centre, Ely, Cardiff CF5 5HJ.
The NIS directed applicants to book appointments through its designated online portal or the website of the Nigeria High Commission in the UK. It stressed that only applicants with prior appointments would be attended to and urged them to comply strictly with their scheduled dates and times.
Applicants are required to present a completed application form, proof of payment, an appointment printout and a self-addressed return envelope. Those renewing their passports must also present their current passports. Cash payments will not be accepted at the centres.
The Service added that Nigerians who prefer not to visit the intervention centres or the High Commission could use its upgraded Contactless Passport Application System, which allows eligible applicants to renew their passports remotely.
