TCN Restores Ikeja-West/Omotosho 330kV Transmission Line After Overnight Outage
By Sunday Etuka
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the Ikeja-West/Omotosho 330kV transmission line, which tripped in the early hours of Tuesday, 27 October 2026, disrupting bulk power supply to parts of Lagos.
The line went out of service at 12:37am and was returned to service at 10:14am, about nine and a half hours later.
However, TCN said bulk power supply has now been restored through the line to Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric.
In a statement signed by its management, TCN thanked the two distribution companies and their customers for their patience and understanding during the outage.
The company had earlier announced that the line tripped after the Y-phase downdropper twin conductors were cut at the Ikeja-West end.
It said its engineers were immediately deployed to restore the line, and it urged EKEDC and Ikeja Electric to take note of the disruption to bulk supply.
TCN had also apologised to customers of both DisCos who were affected by the outage.
“We remain committed to ensuring the efficient transmission of bulk power nationwide,” the company said.
