COAS Passes Out 3,000 Recruits To Boost Army Strength

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has
passed out more than 3,000 recruits at Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi State, urging them to uphold discipline, loyalty and professionalism as they begin military service.

The NA in a statement by its spokesperson, said the graduation, which took place on Wednesday, marks another boost to the Nigerian Army’s manpower as part of the Federal Government’s drive to strengthen national defence and tackle evolving security challenges.

It follows recent passing-out parades at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, and the newly established training depot in Osogbo, Osun State, underscoring the Army’s sustained expansion of its force generation capacity.

Addressing the recruits, the COAS said their training had prepared them for the realities of modern warfare and Nigeria’s complex security environment. He urged them to remain disciplined, vigilant and committed to the Constitution, reminding them that the nation expects courage, professionalism and selfless service in return for its investment in their training.

Lieutenant General Shaibu described the establishment of the Amasiri-Edda depot as a strategic investment in the Army’s training infrastructure and manpower development. He commended the commandant, instructors and support staff for producing combat-ready soldiers equipped for ongoing operations across the country.

Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, praised the Nigerian Army for establishing the depot in the state, describing it as a national asset that has enhanced security, stimulated economic activity and created opportunities for residents. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces and other security agencies in promoting peace, stability and development.

The ceremony was attended by senior military officers, government officials, traditional rulers, families and other dignitaries. It featured a passing-out parade, precision drills and awards for outstanding recruits.
