The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has inaugurated and inducted new members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), reinforcing its commitment to integrity, accountability and ethical conduct across the agency.
Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, the Director General of NiMet, Charles Anosike, described the inauguration as a significant step toward strengthening internal mechanisms against corruption.
He said the initiative aligns with the agency’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which is anchored on the core values of Integrity, Professionalism, Accountability, Commitment and Excellence (I-PACE).
Anosike noted that ACTU plays a vital role in preventing corruption and promoting a culture of accountability within the organisation.
He added that the unit has been expanded from five to eight members to improve inclusiveness and operational effectiveness.
Professor Anosike emphasised that tackling corruption requires collective responsibility, urging staff to uphold ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Aliyu, who was represented by Olusegun Adigun, commended NiMet’s management for supporting the establishment and operations of ACTU.
He also called for stronger collaboration between both organisations to further enhance transparency and institutional credibility.
The NiMet boss charged the newly inducted members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, professionalism and integrity, assuring them of management’s full support while reiterating the agency’s commitment to transparency and national development.
