Ningi Resigns Position As Chairman Northern Senators Forum

Barely 12 hours after his suspension from the Senate, Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District has announced his resignation as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF).

Senator Ningi was suspended by the Senate following his false allegation that the 2024 budget was padded by N3.7trllion.

After the harmonisation of motions by the Senators at the plenary session on Tuesday, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio ruled that Ningi be suspended for three months.

Shortly after his suspension, Ningi tendered his resignation pointing at the unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North, and the Nation at large as reasons for his resignation.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Secretary of the Forum, Ningi said,
“I will like to resign my position as the Chairman of Northern Senators forum. This is of course necessitated by unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North and the Nation at large.

“I will like to specially thank members of the forum for the opportunity given to me for the last eight (8) months to spearhead This very important forum.

“I believe this forum is very important and fundamental to the progress and development of Northern Nigeria”, he wrote in his resignation letter.
