Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has stated that there was no case of kidnapping in the state, urging the people to ignore the false alarm.
In a statement on Tuesday by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the rumour as the handiwork of evil opposition elements.
“Checks from the border areas and across the state confirmed that there was no case of kidnappings. I task our people to go about their normal activities without fear.
“Our government has taken steps to secure our schools. The Ministry of Education and the relevant security agencies have worked out a security strategy that is being implemented,” he said.
According to the governor, the Armoured Personnel Carriers abandoned by the Oyetola administration in various locations have been fully refurbished and ready for deployment.
He explained that his administration inherited the knocked down armoured vehicles in various locations, noting that they were reworked and rehabilitated for deployment in areas of need under joint operations by security agencies.
“The Oyetola administration inherited the vehicles from the Aregbesola administration. The last administration however left them to rot. My government has rehabilitated them and the public will soon witness a new security plan to strengthen the security of lives and properties in Osun state”, he declared.
He warned against incitement to criminal conduct by evil opposition elements, warning that the local intelligence network is monitoring and watching the border towns and identified hot spots.
“No stone will be left unturned to guarantee the security of our schools, our pupils, residents, citizens and properties”, the governor assured.
