President Bola Tinubu has announced that the pupils and teachers abducted by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State have been rescued alive and unharmed by the Nigerian security forces, insisting that no ransom was paid and no concession was made to secure their freedom.
The President disclosed this in a post on his X handle, describing the rescue operation as a testament to the courage and professionalism of the country’s security personnel.
“The children and teachers abducted by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State have been rescued by our security forces, alive and unharmed. No ransom was paid. No concession was made.” the President wrote.
He commended every officer and operative involved in the operation, saying their courage, discipline, and professionalism made the successful rescue possible.
Tinubu issued a stern warning to those behind the abduction and others who seek to spread fear through terror, vowing that the Nigerian state would pursue them relentlessly.
“To those who seek to spread fear through terror, know that the Nigerian state will pursue you relentlessly. We will protect our people, defend our communities, and never relent until peace and security prevail across our country,” he stated.
The President’s statement comes as a reassurance to Nigerians following days of anxiety over the fate of the abducted pupils and teachers and underscores his administration’s stance against negotiating with terrorists or bandits through ransom payments.
The rescue has been widely commended by government officials and stakeholders as a demonstration of improved coordination among the country’s security agencies in tackling insecurity across the country.
