The Federal Capital Territory Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has sent condolences over the death of Mr. Dotun Oladipo, Publisher of The Eagle Online, saying the profession has lost one of its most dedicated practitioners.
A statement issued by the Council’s Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, said members received news of Oladipo’s death, at age 56, with shock and sadness, calling the loss painful and unfortunate.
According to the statement, Oladipo was a committed journalist and media entrepreneur whose contributions, particularly in the digital media space, would not be forgotten by his colleagues in the profession.
The Council said Oladipo had built a distinguished career defined by dedication, professionalism, and a strong commitment to advancing journalism in Nigeria, adding that his death has left a significant void in the country’s media landscape.
It conveyed heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, family members, colleagues at The Eagle Online, and the wider Nigerian media community, praying for the repose of his soul and asking God to comfort all those grieving his passing.
The statement added that Oladipo’s legacy of courage, professionalism, and dedicated service to journalism would continue to serve as an inspiration to colleagues and upcoming journalists in the years ahead.
