Police Arrest 17 Suspected Traffickers, Rescue Abducted Boy

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 17 foreign nationals suspected of involvement in clandestine activities in Benue State, rescued an abducted 11-year-old boy in Cross River and arrested several kidnapping and armed robbery suspects in operations across the country.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the police’s operational update for October 10, 2026, highlighting successes recorded in Rivers, Cross River, Ekiti, Anambra, Kogi, Benue, Ogun and Zamfara states.

In Rivers, police arrested four suspected kidnappers linked to incidents along the Igwuruta-Etche axis. They also recovered a G3 rifle and four rounds of live ammunition during a separate operation.

In Cross River, operatives rescued an abducted boy found tied up with head injuries in a suspect’s room and arrested the suspect.

In Ekiti, five suspects were arrested over the alleged invasion and assault of a woman, while another suspect was apprehended with a suspected stolen motorcycle, clothing and other items. Anambra police also arrested an armed robbery suspect and recovered a victim’s purse, an unregistered motorcycle, an axe and other exhibits.

In Kogi, operatives intercepted a vehicle along Magongo Highway and seized 300kg of substances suspected to be Indian hemp. Meanwhile, police in Benue arrested 17 foreign nationals reportedly found without valid travel documents, with investigations ongoing into their activities.

In Ogun State, tactical teams launched search-and-rescue operations following the abduction of two persons in Saapade, recovering expended AK-47 ammunition shells at the scene. In Zamfara, security personnel commenced tracking operations after armed attackers fled before their arrival at Bardoki Village.

The police said investigations were ongoing across the cases, with efforts continuing to rescue the remaining kidnap victims and apprehend fleeing suspects.
