Nearly 4,000 PHCN pensioners under the Defined Benefit Pension Scheme (DBS) have received the final installment of their Back-End Computation arrears, as the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) disbursed ₦9,476,313,375.74 to close out the outstanding balance owed to them.
The payment covers the remaining 50% of BEC arrears for the 3,958 eligible pensioners, following an earlier tranche of ₦9,481,886,576.53 disbursed in June 2026.
Combined, the two payments bring total disbursements to this group to ₦18,958,199,952.27, fully settling the BEC arrears.
In a statement on Thursday by its Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, PTAD described the completed settlement as a major step in resolving outstanding pension liabilities and reaffirmed its commitment, alongside the Federal Government, to protecting the entitlements of DBS pensioners.
PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, said the Directorate remains committed to ensuring every eligible DBS pensioner receives the benefits due to them.
She linked the disbursement to the Tinubu administration’s broader focus on pensioner welfare, noting that the government continues to act on this commitment by clearing outstanding liabilities owed to citizens who served the nation throughout their working years.
She added that the sacrifices of Nigeria’s senior citizens would continue to be honoured as the administration pursues further initiatives to secure a more dignified retirement for pensioners.
