Shehu Sani Expresses Discontent With Nigerians’ Insensitivity To Diasporic

Former Senator of the Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna State has bemoaned the travails of Nigerians in the Diaspora and the insensitivity of their fellow kinsmen to their plight.

The Senator took to his verified Twitter handle, @ShehuSani on Tuesday morning to speak on the issue of concern.

Within the first hour, the tweet generated some 615 likes, 160 retweets and 30 comments.

@ShehuSani wrote: “When Nigerians abroad excell, we rush to own them; When they sent remittances, we rush to capture it; When they are in trouble, we deny them; When they protest, we whip them.”

Recently, some Nigerians were furious that President Muhammadu Buhari again, embarked on another medical trip to the United Kingdom, leading to protests at the Abuja House in London.

However, some persons back home have lambasted the diasporic, giving them the knocks for staging the protests against the President.

Meanwhile, a United Nations report in 2017 showed that there are approximately 1.24 million migrants from Nigeria in the diaspora, indicating that Nigeria accounts for over a third of migrant remittance flows to Sub-Saharan Africa.
