Electricity consumers in several parts of Abuja and its environs should expect a power outage on Saturday, September 26, 2026, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out annual preventive maintenance at the Katampe 1 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
According to a notice signed by TCN Management, the maintenance work will focus on the Katampe-Gwarinpa 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgears and associated equipment, and will run from 10:00am to 4:00pm on the scheduled day.
As a result of the exercise, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake power supply to affected areas for the duration of the maintenance.
Areas expected to be impacted include Dawaki, Dutse Alhaji, parts of Gwarinpa, parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, Jiwa, Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Madalla, Zuba and their environs.
TCN said the exercise is part of routine annual preventive maintenance aimed at ensuring the continued safety and reliability of transmission infrastructure serving the affected axis.
The company apologised for any inconvenience the scheduled maintenance may cause electricity consumers within the affected areas during the outage period.
