TCN Nears Completion Of Repairs On Collapsed Kainji–Birnin Kebbi Transmission Tower

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says restoration work on the 330kV Kainji–Birnin Kebbi Transmission Line is progressing steadily, weeks after tower T367 collapsed along the line’s corridor in Yauri.
According to the company, the collapsed tower has now been fully dismantled and decommissioned, while the conductors and skywire have been aligned and prepared for the next phase of repairs.
TCN said an Emergency Restoration System tower has also been moved to the site and is ready for installation.
It added cable stringing and related work would follow, as engineers and technical staff remain on site working to complete the restoration as quickly as possible.
The company thanked electricity consumers and other stakeholders for their patience during the outage, assuring the public that every effort is being made to restore the line and return bulk transmission to normal in the affected area.
