President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marked his wife’s 66th birthday with a public letter of tribute, praising Senator Oluremi Tinubu for decades of support through both their personal life and his political career.
In a message on Monday, the President described his wife as someone who has stood beside him “with patience, grace and uncommon courage.”
He drew on a Yoruba proverb likening a good wife to her husband’s crown and referenced the Book of Proverbs’ description of a virtuous woman.
Tinubu credited his wife with absorbing burdens that were his to carry and offering quiet counsel, often before he asked for it.
He called her his “truest friend and confidante,” noting her willingness to speak honestly with him even when the truth was unwelcome.
The tribute also highlighted Senator Tinubu’s charitable work, from the New Era Foundation during the family’s years in Lagos to the Renewed Hope Initiative she now leads.
The President said her outreach has extended to children, widows, elderly citizens, women farmers, and people affected by tuberculosis and other illnesses across Nigeria, describing her compassion as reaching beyond boundaries of tribe, region or religion.
Reflecting on their marriage, Tinubu wrote of difficult decisions worked through together and sacrifices made away from public view, saying that if given the choice again, he would choose the same path that led him to her.
He closed the letter with a prayer for his wife’s continued health and joy, signing it as “Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
