TMSG Says North Not Neglected, Lists N2Trn Projects Under Tinubu

By Sunday Etuka

The Tinubu Media Support Group has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu has neglected Northern Nigeria in project execution.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo, the group said the North has benefitted immensely in infrastructure and strategic appointments, contrary to insinuations by some politicians from the region.

The group said most major projects inherited from the late President Muhammadu Buhari administration are recording measurable progress under President Tinubu, while new legacy projects are at various stages of completion.

It cited the 2.8 billion dollar, 614 kilometre Ajaokuta Kaduna Kano gas project designed to move gas to industrial clusters in the North, which it said has reached 95 percent completion as of August 2026 following a marching order to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to clear bottlenecks.

It added that the Kaduna Kano and Kano Maradi railway lines, which are part of the Lagos Kano modernisation initiative to connect Abuja directly to Kano and link to Maradi in Niger Republic, are progressing well, with the Kaduna Kano line due in December this year and sections of the 284 kilometre Kano Daura Katsina stretch on track for commissioning in December 2026. The final stretch to Maradi is expected in 2027.

The group said the administration is also completing inherited road projects and pushing its own legacy highways, including the 1,068 kilometre Sokoto Badagry super highway linking Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo and Lagos states, the reconstruction of Abuja Kaduna Kano dual carriageway with reinforced concrete pavement and work on Akwanga Jos Bauchi Gombe road.

It said there are over 40 ongoing projects in the North covering healthcare expansions at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria and over 1,000 Primary Health Centres, plus over N2 trillion approved for intra city light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna.

It also noted that the North East Development Commission is executing projects in excess of N1.5 trillion across the zone, with similar projects ongoing in other commissions established by the Tinubu administration.

The group urged northerners to disregard misinformation that the administration has abandoned the region, describing those peddling such claims as dishonest and playing politics of deceit.
