Troops Dismantle Illegal Arms Factory, Arrests Gunmakers In Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing syndicate and recovered locally fabricated weapons during an intelligence-led operation in Kebbi State.

OPFY’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed the development on Thursday.

According to him, troops, acting on credible intelligence, raided a secluded compound used by the suspects to manufacture and supply locally fabricated firearms to terrorist groups operating in the state. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, while two suspected gun manufacturers and suppliers were arrested.

Danja stated that the operation, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, underscores the growing success of coordinated efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and dismantle criminal networks across the North-West, ev Edn as he described the raid as another significant breakthrough in Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s campaign against the proliferation of illicit weapons and the supply chains that sustain terrorist activities.

The arrested suspects are currently in military custody undergoing preliminary interrogation. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, uncover their financiers and collaborators, and dismantle the wider illegal arms network.

The Theatre Command commended the professionalism of the troops and partner security agencies involved in the operation. It also urged residents of the North-West to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible intelligence, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to ongoing efforts to rid the region of criminal elements and improve security.
