By Anne Osemekeh, Abuja

Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an attempt by terrorists to rustle cattle and recovered more than 500 animals in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Disclosing this on Wednesday, the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lt Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the operation was conducted on September 8, 2026, following a distress call from residents over cattle rustling at Rugar Mande Kurmin.

Troops swiftly moved to the suspected withdrawal routes, established blocking positions and engaged the terrorists from multiple directions, forcing them to flee and abandon the cattle.

The recovered animals were subsequently handed over to their respective owners.

The Joint Task Force said the operation underscores the troops’ commitment to protecting lives and property, disrupting criminal activities and denying terrorists freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.

It urged residents to continue providing security agencies with credible information to support ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal elements.
