Kachollom Tasks NASCP Staff On Service To Humanity

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachollom has charged the Management and Staff of National Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections Control Programme (NASCP) to redouble their efforts towards providing adequate services to humanity.

Assistant Director (Information and Public Relations) of the Ministry, Ado Bako disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

According to the statement, Kachollom gave the charge in her remarks during the commissioning of offices accommodation allocated to the National Hepatitis HIV/AIDS and STI’S Control Programme (NASCP) at the First Floor Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

The Permanent Secretary who stated that HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and STI’s patients need to be received by people with human face, empathy, patience and compassion, also urged them to provide services that will bring succour to Nigerians.

She further pointed out that NASCP should provide necessary guidance and policies that will promote the health sector.

Daju Kachollom, expressed her satisfaction on the speedy completion of the renovation exercise, describing the support given by the Director, Public Health, Dr. Chukwuma Anyaike and Director, General Services, Alhaji Sulaiman Umar, for ensuring the completion of the work in time as commendable.

She also appreciated the contributions of the Global Fund for its timely support, pledging continuous partnership with other organisations to achieve great and better results in the health sector.

Earlier, the National Coordinator of National Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, and STI’S control Programme (NASCP), Dr Adebobola Bashorun, while expressing his happiness, recalled that the programme started in 1987 at the Ministry’s Headquarters to take care of people with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and STI’s, but later in 1994 was moved to Edo House. He explained that the offices provided for the programme will in no small measure enhance the activities of the programme.

Dr. Bashorun thanked the Permanent Secretary and the Director Public Health for their support and roles in ensuring the work was completed within the timeframe, promising that the facilities will be used for the particular purpose they are meant for.

He also acknowledged the support from the Global Fund for setting up the place with modern equipment, stating that the gesture was commendable.
