The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has condemned the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Leke Miami social media platforms.
The anti-graft agency disclosed on Monday through its Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Dele Oyewale, that Folarin, a former driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the commission, was recently dismissed for certificate forgery.
TheFact Daily reports that the former EFCC staff, who introduced himself as Lare from Ibadan, become the subject of online chatter after joining Lege Miami’s popular matchmaking live session on TikTok.
Lare, who appeared on the live show in search of a wife, sparked mixed reactions not just for his interest in finding love but also for the background of his video call. Viewers quickly spotted details in his room, including framed portraits of President Bola Tinubu and an APC logo, alongside what appeared to be a well-furnished house.
While some netizens playfully teased him about seeking love on Lege’s platform, others raised more pointed questions. A few wondered how an EFCC officer could afford such a house, while others expressed concern about the open display of partisan symbols in his home, given his role in a government agency expected to be neutral.
Lege Miami, who has built a reputation for connecting singles through his TikTok matchmaking sessions, carried on with the show as usual, but the officer’s appearance has since gone viral, drawing hundreds of comments across social media
According to the commission’s spokesman, the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered his arrest for being in possession of some commission’s properties, including an identity card, which he should have handed over upon being dismissed from the EFCC.
Oyewale further advised the public against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC.
