Youth Empowerment, Unity Real Weapons Against Insecurity – NSCDC Boss
By Anne Osemekeh, Abuja
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Audi, has averred that strengthening community engagement and reviving the cultural values of the Nigerian people are critical in preventing security breaches linked to youth misguidance.
According to the Corps’ spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, in a statement on Monday, the NSCDC chief made the declaration while presenting a paper at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Exercise Haske Biyu 2025.
Making the presentation on the theme “Community Engagement and National Security: Preventing Security Breaches Linked to Youth Misguidance”, Prof. Audi noted that insecurity often festers where communal values weaken and youths are left unguided.
He explained that Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage—rooted in discipline, respect, communal solidarity, and patriotism—must serve as a foundation for sustainable security.
“The security of our nation goes beyond weapons and tactics; it is also about rebuilding trust, nurturing our youths, and reviving the cultural values that once made our communities resilient,” the Commandant General emphasized.
Further stressing that security is a shared responsibility, the CG called on leaders, families, and citizens to collaborate with security agencies in guiding young people and protecting them from criminal exploitation.
He affirmed that when Nigerian communities uphold their values of unity and responsibility, they become stronger allies in protecting critical national assets and fostering lasting peace.
Prof. Audi reaffirmed NSCDC’s commitment to people-driven security and intelligence-led operations, as well as inclusive civic partnerships that enhance peace, stability, and national development.
