President Tinubu Returns To Abuja After State Visit To Türkiye

President Bola Tinubu has returned home after his state visit to the Republic of Turkiye.

His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that the President returned to the country late on Saturday.

Recall that President Tibubu departed Abuja on Monday, January 26, for the state visit, aimed at strengthening the existing cordial relations between the two countries and exploring further areas of cooperation in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.

On arriving at Turkiye, the President was received at Ankara Esenboğa Airport by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, including the Chargé d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Türkiye, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, and other embassy officials.

On Tuesday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Türkiye, disclosed that his country targets a $5 billion trade volume with Nigeria. Currently, the trade volume between the two nations is about $2 billion.

While Turkey exports planes, helicopters, machinery, iron and steel, and chemical products to Nigeria, Nigeria exports crude oil and agricultural products to Türkiye.

Members of the President’s entourage participating in the bilateral discussions include: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd) and Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Hon. Jimi Benson.

Others are: Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
