Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested three persons living with disabilities (PWDs), while also uncovering a massive N5.8 billion cannabis stash in Lagos.

Disclosing this on Sunday, the agency’s spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, said the seizures and arrests followed separate anti-narcotics operations across Anambra and Kwara states.

Babafemi said that based on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, tracked one of the suspects, 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara, to Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, Anambra State, where he was found in possession of 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets.

In Kwara State, NDLEA operatives on patrol along Bode Saadu on Friday, 8 May intercepted a commercial vehicle and discovered 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a brown school bag belonging to a passenger identified as Usman Salisu, also a person with disability.

In a major breakthrough, operatives of the Agency’s Special Operations Unit on Friday, 8 May raided a mansion at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, being used as a drug stash house. During the operation, officers recovered 4,000 parcels of Loud, a potent imported strain of cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilograms and valued at over N5.815 billion. Two Mercedes-Benz buses and assorted designer packaging sachets used for retail distribution of the illicit substance were also seized.

Elsewhere, NDLEA operatives arrested Emmanuel Osita Okeke, 38, with 129 kilograms of skunk at Nyanya Karu in Nasarawa State on Monday, 4 May. Similarly, along the Okene/Lokoja highway in Kogi State, officers intercepted a white commuter J5 bus heading to Abuja and recovered 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766 kilograms. Three suspects — Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond and Babangida Musa — were arrested in connection with the seizure.

In Lagos, NDLEA officers on Wednesday, 6 May raided a makeshift skuchies production factory in the Ijora Badia area, arresting two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, while allegedly cooking cannabis mixtures. Recovered from the scene were 270 litres of skuchies and 106 grams of Tramadol 225mg.

Meanwhile, the Agency sustained its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaign nationwide with awareness lectures conducted in schools, worship centres and communities across Nasarawa, Ekiti, Enugu, Abia, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Kano and Oyo states.

Commending officers of the Special Operations Unit as well as Commands in Anambra, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa and Lagos for the successful operations, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised their balanced approach to drug supply reduction and public sensitisation, urging them to sustain the momentum.
