The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says 13 people including a healthcare worker have been affected by Lassa fever.
This is according to a recently published Lassa Fever Situation Report for Week 24 (8th – 14 June 2026), 25 (15th – 21st June 2026), and week 26 (22nd – 28th June 2026) by the agency.
“The total number of new confirmed cases was 13, same with week 23. The cases were reported in Ondo, Edo, Taraba, Benue and Bauchi states.
“Cumulative for week 24 (2026) total: 868 confirmed cases, 216 deaths have been recorded, CFR 24.9% (higher than 18.9% same period in 2025)”, the report revealed.
It added that 23 states recorded at least one confirmed case across 110 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Also, 85% of confirmed cases were from Bauchi, Ondo, Taraba, Benue and Edo State.
Furthermore, the predominant age group affected was 21- 30 years with one new healthcare worker affected in the reporting Week 24.
For week 25, the agency said:
“The total number of new confirmed cases was higher than week 24. A total number of 22 cases were reported in Ondo, Taraba, Benue and Bauchi states.
“Cumulative for week 25 (2026) total: 891 confirmed cases, 219 deaths have been recorded, CFR 24.6% (higher than 18.6% same period in 2025).
“23 states have recorded at least one confirmed case across 111 LGAs. 85% of confirmed cases are from Bauchi, Ondo, Taraba, Benue and Edo State.
“The predominant age group affected is 21- 30 years. No new healthcare worker was affected in the reporting Week 25”.
According to Week 26 report, “the total number of new confirmed cases increased from 22 in epi week 25 of 2026 to 31. The cases were reported in Ondo, Taraba, Benue and Bauchi states.
“Cumulative for week 26 (2026) total: 922 confirmed cases, 221 deaths have been recorded, CFR 24.0% (higher than 18.7% same period in 2025).
“23 states have recorded at least one confirmed case across 111 LGAs. 85% of confirmed cases are from Bauchi, Ondo, Taraba, Benue and Edo State.
“The predominant age group affected is 21- 30 years. One new healthcare worker was affected in the reporting Week 26”.
