The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated 200 pieces of protective equipment to the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT to strengthen security operations across Lagos State and its maritime domain ahead of the forthcoming election period.
The Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, disclosed this on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, when he led a delegation of the Fund on a courtesy visit to the Commander, NNS BEECROFT, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu.
The donation comprises 50 ballistic helmets, 50 bulletproof vests and 100 raincoats, aimed at enhancing the operational capacity and welfare of naval personnel deployed to safeguard Lagos waterways and maritime approaches.
Ogunsan said the intervention was part of the Fund’s continued support for security agencies in the state, particularly through targeted assistance designed to address identified operational gaps and boost personnel morale.
He said additional areas requiring intervention, identified during the engagement, would be addressed in due course.
According to him, the interventions are intended to strengthen the state’s security architecture and enhance the capacity of security agencies to protect lives and property, especially as Lagos approaches a sensitive election period.
Receiving the delegation, Commodore Adams-Aliu commended the LSSTF for its continued support and expressed appreciation for the visit and the equipment provided to NNS BEECROFT.
The Naval commander reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to maintaining strong partnerships with government institutions, sister security agencies and other stakeholders in the interest of national security.
Adams-Aliu stressed that the evolving nature of security threats required sustained collaboration, coordination and timely information sharing among security agencies.
He said closer cooperation would enhance the ability of security forces to respond effectively to emerging threats, particularly within Lagos’ waterways and maritime approaches.
The engagement, he added, aligns with the mission of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to build a highly motivated and professional naval force capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests while contributing effectively to joint operations in defence of national sovereignty and the maintenance of internal stability.
