Police Arrest 11 Suspected Robbers, Cultists, Recover Arms, Stolen SUV

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 11 suspected armed robbers and cultists and recovered firearms, a stolen Lexus SUV, electronic devices and other valuables in separate operations across several states.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the Force’s State-by-State Executive Summary of operational successes for August 26, 2026, detailing arrests and recoveries recorded in Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Lagos, Gombe, the Federal Capital Territory, Bauchi and Zamfara states.
In Oyo State, police operatives intercepted a stolen Lexus RX 350 along the Ibadan–Ilorin Expressway following intelligence on a trans-border vehicle theft syndicate. Two suspects, Adewale Abiola, 33, and Kabiru Abobarin, 36, were arrested after abandoning the vehicle and fleeing into the bush.
Police recovered the Lexus, four HP laptops, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, seven wristwatches and jewellery belonging to the victim.
In Akwa Ibom, five suspected armed robbers were arrested at their hideout by the Eagle Response Squad following a robbery investigation. Two locally made pistols and clothing allegedly worn during the operation were recovered.
Three suspected cultists were also arrested in Ekiti following an attack by armed hoodlums in Ijadu Community. Police recovered a locally made single-barrel gun, an axe, an expended cartridge and charms.
In Lagos, a suspected armed robber was arrested during a stop-and-search operation at Alakija, with a prototype short gun, two suspected stolen Android phones and cash recovered.
Meanwhile, police commands in Gombe and the FCT recovered two stolen cows and an abandoned Toyota Prado respectively, while security teams in Oyo, the FCT, Bauchi and Zamfara launched operations to rescue victims of separate kidnapping incidents.
In Zamfara, tactical teams are pursuing suspected abductors following multiple attacks along the Fegin Mahe–Mada and Shemori–Mada roads and at Take Tsaba Village. Some victims killed during the attacks were recovered and evacuated for autopsy.
CSP Iniedu said investigations and rescue operations were ongoing across the affected commands, with efforts also underway to apprehend fleeing suspects and recover additional stolen property.
