Peter Obi Mourns Veteran Actor, Olu Jacobs, Hails His Contribution To Nigerian Arts

Former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has paid tribute to veteran actor Olu Jacobs, following the announcement of his death by family members on 16th September, 2026.
In a statement posted on his X handle on Thursday, Obi described Jacobs as a man who represented the excellence of the Nigerian spirit, pointing to his remarkable contributions to film and the creative industry across a career that spanned several decades in both Britain and Nigeria.
He noted that Jacobs’ passing was once again a reminder that our time on earth is limited, and that whatever responsibility we are entrusted with, and whatever field we are called to serve, we owe it our very best, so that society may benefit from our genius, talent and competence.
This, Obi said, was what Olu Jacobs was known for: a life that demonstrated the power of talent, discipline, professionalism and dedication to one’s craft.
Obi extended his thoughts and prayers to Jacobs’ family, friends, colleagues and the entire Nigerian creative community as they remember his life, times and passion.
He prayed that the Almighty would grant his loved ones, and the nation, the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
“May the good Lord grant our father, Olu Jacobs, and all the faithful departed eternal rest,” Obi said. “Amen.”
