The Nigeria Police Force has recorded operational successes across Rivers, Kano, Anambra, Bayelsa, Kogi and the FCT, including the arrest of 12 suspects, rescue of two abducted farm workers and recovery of firearms, ammunition and other exhibits.

According to a statement issued by the Force on Monday, operatives in Rivers State arrested three suspected members of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang linked to several attacks across the state.

The suspects reportedly confessed to the July 23 murder of Joseph Onyeka in Rumuji and the August 4 shooting of Inspector Womoma Nnanna at Elele-Alimini Junction, during which the officer’s AK-47 rifle was stolen. Police recovered six firearms and 58 rounds of ammunition.

Assorted illicit substances were also recovered.

In Bayelsa, police recovered a stolen tricycle, arrested two suspects and recovered two locally made firearms. In Kogi, two women were arrested over the alleged murder of 90-year-old Juliana Joel, whose body was found with her throat slit. In the FCT, a 27-year-old mother, Precious Yohana, was arrested after the body of her newborn baby was found with severe cut injuries.

The Force said the operations underscore its ongoing efforts to disrupt armed robbery, kidnapping, violent crime and other offences through intelligence-led policing and rapid response. Investigations into the various cases are ongoing.
