By Anne Osemekeh, Abuja

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Monday visited Rwanda’s Campaign Against Genocide Museum in Kigali, highlighting the importance of civilian protection, decisive military action and national unity in combating genocide and other security threats.

Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, in a statement said the visit, which formed part of the A Chief’s official working visit to Rwanda, offered insights into the role of the Rwandan Patriotic Army in ending the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and the lessons it holds for safeguarding innocent lives and upholding human rights.

The Nigerian Army said the experience underscored the need for Nigerians to rise above ethnic, religious and political differences and work collectively with security agencies to address threats to national peace and stability.
