The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has recorded another major operational success after repelling coordinated attacks by ISWAP terrorists and launching a devastating counter-offensive against the insurgents along the Buratai axis of Borno State.
Acting Military Information Officer of OPHK, Captain Mohammed Goni, who stated this on Friday, said the terrorist attacks occurred in the early hours of 19 June 2026 on troops’ positions at Dusten Kura and Chara Road in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area.
However, vigilant troops, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly detected the attempted incursion and responded with overwhelming firepower through a well-coordinated air and ground operation.
The timely deployment of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets, alongside precision strike platforms of the Nigerian Air Force under the Air Component of OPHK, proved decisive in blunting the terrorists’ offensive.
The seamless integration of air and ground forces disrupted the attacks, inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists, and forced the surviving fighters to retreat in disarray.
Notably, no casualties were recorded among own troops, while the terrorists suffered significant losses in both personnel and equipment.
The successful operation further highlights the high level of combat readiness of OPHK troops and the effectiveness of the synergy between the ground and air components in sustaining relentless pressure on terrorist elements across the North-East theatre.
The Theatre Command remains resolute in its mission to deny terrorists freedom of action, dismantle their operational capabilities, and safeguard law-abiding citizens throughout the region.
Goni urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, even as Operation HADIN KAI will sustain aggressive offensive operations aimed at decisively degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
