The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has urged Politicians in the country to allow its Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele and his team achieve the statutory mandate of the Bank.
CBN’s Ag. Director, Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin made the appeal in a statement on Monday, March 13, 2023.
The apex bank statement was in response to the FAKE NEWS Titled: “Emefiele launches fresh plot against President-elect Tinubu” published by The Nation Newspaper today.
The story alleged that the CBN Governor has made a certain amount of money available to the candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour ahead of the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial poll.
CBN noted that the story was completely false and malicious as the CBN Governor does not know and has never met or even spoken with Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, either in person or through a proxy.
The bank reiterated that its Governor does not take part in politics and therefore urge anyone with contrary information to prove the Governor wrong by providing any facts.
As such, it said, “the Governor and his team at the CBN should be allowed to focus on their assigned job with a view to achieving the statutory mandate of the Bank”.
