Civil Service Pensioners Not Against Ejikeme’s Reappointment -Chairman

Executive Secretary, PTAD, Dr. Chioma Ejikeme.

Pensioners under the umbrella of the Federal Civil Service Pensioners (FCSP) have disassociated themselves from the ongoing protest against the reappointment of Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, as the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).

FCSP’s Chairman, Comrade Sunday Omezi disclosed this while briefing the Press on Friday in Abuja.

Comrade Omezi said, the reappointment of Dr. Ejikeme, was a well-deserved one, the fore, expressed the pensioners’ profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu.

He said, “We must say that the reappointment is a well-deserved one, in view of her track record in the administration of pension, culminating in the prompt payment of monthly pensions, payment of pension arrears, as well as landmark innovations that have eased the process of pension management, and the overall improvement of pensioners’ welfare, such as the “I am Alive” initiative, which is aimed at determining the legibility of pensioners, as well as curtailing payment to deceased pensioners, thereby preventing the menace of ghost pensioners, which had previously incurred heavy financial losses to the government”.

He noted that “it has become necessary to address the Press with regard to the publication in the Leadership Newspaper publication of Thursday, 2nd November 2023, captioned: “Pensioners Raise Concern over PTAD ES Reappointment.”

The Chairman said, “in the light of the foregoing, the Federal Civil Service Pensioners, as a major stakeholder under the purview of PTAD, is not party to the publication, and the issues raised thereof, by those responsible for the said publication.

“It is also imperative at this juncture to let the authorities and general public know that the few individuals responsible for the said publication, are speaking for themselves alone, and not for the generality of the pensioners, as they claimed, as they neither have the mandate of the pensioners, nor representing the pensioners at whatever capacity, but merely serving their selfish interest, and acting on the figment of their imagination, as they may not be able to substantiate all the allegations peddled in the said publication.

“However, this is not to say that there are no teething problems, and room for more improvement, as it is always prevalent in any human endeavour, but the achievements so far, are very visible, while hoping that her second tenure will consolidate and complement the success so far achieved.

“In this vein therefore, the entire membership of the FCSP hereby dissociates herself from the said publication, as it appears to have a taste of fabrications, frivolities, and mischief”, he said.
