The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to far-reaching reforms aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening internal security and delivering measurable results across public institutions.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stated this during the International Civil Service Conference themed “Reforms, Resilience and Results,” where he warned that excessive bureaucracy and outdated procedures continue to hinder progress in the public sector.
According to the minister, “complexity is the enemy of progress,” stressing that public institutions must simplify processes, embrace innovation and focus on results-driven governance to meet citizens’ expectations.
Tunji-Ojo said “business as usual has no place in public service” in the 21st century, adding that public trust must be matched with accountability, performance and practical reforms.
He noted that many reform initiatives fail because of poor understanding of the problems they are designed to solve, insisting that data-driven analysis and strategic thinking are essential for meaningful progress in governance and internal security.
The minister also urged civil servants to abandon emotional attachment to outdated systems and adopt knowledge-based solutions capable of driving institutional change.
He assured Nigerians that the Ministry of Interior would continue strengthening institutional capacity and operational efficiency in line with national priorities.
