The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has commissioned a state-of-the-art Police Mechanical Workshop, and 40 tactical and operational vehicles.
The commissioning took place on Thursday according to the Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who also stated that the event is in line with the IGP’s commitment and broader initiative aimed at improving the operational capacity and efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to Adejobi, the police mechanical workshop is a critical support unit of the Force which would ensure the optimal working condition of operational vehicles, enabling timely responses to emergencies and effective police operations. Located at Dei-Dei, in Abuja, the support unit is expected to bolster and maintain operational readiness of all tactical and operational vehicles, minimizing downtime and ensuring mobility during critical operations.
The tactical and operational vehicles commissioned by the IGP at the Force Headquarters Abuja include anti-riot water cannon trucks, and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), to further augment the arsenal of the Force, boosting its operational efficiency.
While reassuring members of the public that the Police Force remains committed to responding effectively to any and all security threats, IGP Egbetokun warned all individuals and groups threatening the peace and tranquility of the country that “the Nigeria Police Force is coming for them and will proactively, strategically, swiftly and without hesitation run them out of town”.
