Imo Police Query, Redeploy DPO, Others

Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has authorised the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Orji, CSP Udom Godwin to the Command Headquarters.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Henry Okoye, through his X account (formerly Twitter), disclosed this on Tuesday.

The statement noted that CSP Godwin has been queried over allegations of conspiracy, aiding and abetting in the escape of Ihee Andrewa, ‘m’ of Ahiazu Mbaise, a suspected 30-year-old serial rapist detained at the Division.

“In addition, Godwin and other serving officers in the division that are linked to the case have been issued an official query for serious dereliction of duty, discreditable conduct, lack of supervision, failure to send situation report, disobedience to lawful order, and an act of sabotage unbecoming of a public officer respectively”.

TheFact recalls that on Sunday, November 26, an online investigative journalist, 99% OPPRESSED (@pidomnigeria) made a tweet about how a 20-year-old girl was raped by three guys in Owerri.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a tweet, confirmed that the DPO and the officers involved have been subjected to investigation.
While condemning the act, he also noted as ‘strange’, why the DPO did not inform the state command of such a case.

“It is strange to us as well that the DPO did not even inform the state command of the case. There are some cases that are not handled by the division but at the Force CID like rape, armed robbery, and murder. It was just yesterday that we were aware that the division has been handling the case; this is unprofessional and unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, CSP Seedy Eke Chima has been deployed be take charge as DPO in Orji.
