President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Brazilian President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, on winning a fourth term in office, and promised to widen cooperation between Nigeria and Brazil across trade, energy, agriculture and other sectors.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, Tinubu described Lula as his friend and said the Brazilian leader’s renewed mandate was a chance to build on a relationship that dates back to 1961.
He said Nigeria and Brazil, as leading nations of the Global South, could promote economic integration and advance shared interests in a rapidly changing global order.
Tinubu said he looked forward to expanding cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture and food security, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, science and technology, education, aviation and cultural exchange.
The President also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working with Brazil to strengthen multilateral cooperation and advance common priorities in Africa, South America and across the Global South.
“On behalf of the people of Nigeria, I wish you a successful new term in office,” Tinubu said.
