Governor Umo Eno has declared Friday a work-free day in Akwa Ibom State as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu prepares to visit Uyo to commission a series of completed projects, before moving on to Rivers State for an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally.
The President leaves Abuja on Friday, for the two-state tour, according to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
In Uyo, he will commission projects delivered by Eno’s administration and attend a political rally. The governor announced the public holiday so residents can give him a warm reception.
Three of the projects are located at the Victor Attah International Airport: the new International Terminal Building, the International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village.
The President will also commission two roads. The Airport-Okopedi Road runs through Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas, while Ring Road 3 links Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom. Other projects on the list are the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre and the ARISE Palm Resort.
On Saturday, Tinubu will travel to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for the APC rally. It will be his third since he flagged off his re-election campaign in Kaduna last month.
According to the statement, the visits will give the President a chance to meet political stakeholders, party members and supporters. He is expected to stress unity, political stability and a shared commitment to national progress.
