No fewer than 476 Parishioners of St. Donald Catholic Church, Karu, have been conferred with the Sacrament of Confirmation, by His Grace, Most Revd. Dr. Ignatius Kaigama, the Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Abuja.
With the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Baptised Parishioners were sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, and Strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.
Most Revd. Dr. Kaigama was on a Pastoral visit to St. Donald on Sunday , April 14, 2024, to dedicate the Church, and confirm the Baptised Parishioners.
He urged them to evangelise the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth having been strengthened in faith.
“They are called to be witnesses, they are called to be soldiers, and are filled with the Holy Spirit to go and be disciples of Jesus Christ to all nations”, he said.
According to him, the confirmation of the 476 Parishioners was a sign that the Church is growing, therefore, admonished the Parish to sustain the growth.
The occasion which coincided with the celebration of the Mother’s Day, saw the women beautifully dressed to add glamour to the worship.
While congratulating the women, the Archbishop noted that the Day was set aside by the Church to celebrate the Mothers as one of the pillars of the Church.
He said, as Mothers, they have stratigic role to play to make the Families, Church and Nigeria better.
He, however, expressed sadness over what he described as irrational behaviours of some women wanting to be men, and some men wanting to be women, adding that such behaviours are against the plan of God.
The Bishop who was pleased with the beautiful Church, called on the Church to readjust the alter so that the Archdiocese can be having Diaconate Ordinations in the Parish.
In his response, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Kennedy Ohazuruike, thanked the Archbishop for the visit and promised to readjust the alter in three days to be ready for Diaconate Ordinations.
In a note of thanks on behalf of the confirmed Parishioners, Miss Jessica Richard expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Archbishop for the visit.
She promised that the confirmed Parishioners would not forget the good gesture of the Archbishop, and would continually carry on the faith irrespective of the current challenges in the country.
She also extended the appreciation to the parents for their massive support in ensuring the successful receipt of the Sacrament of confirmation.
