Kano Police Recover 318 Of 617 Stolen Mobile Phones, Arrest Suspects

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested three notorious mobile phone thieves and recovered 318 stolen mobile phones.

The State Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, 14th October, 2023.

TheFact Daily gathers that the Kofar Wambai Division of the Command had, around 8:00 am on Friday, 29 September, received a report from a group of GSM phone dealers, led by one Muhammed Adam, to the effect that their shops, all located around Alkhairat GSM Market, opposite Sani Abacha Stadium, had been burgled the previous night, and that the hoodlums had made away with six hundred and seventy-one (671) mobile phones.

Concerted efforts by a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kofar Wambai Division Kano, CSP Bala Mohammed, led to the arrest of one Yusuf Surajo, aged 19 years, of Yakasai Quarters Kano.

Ongoing discreet investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Mustafa Auwal, ‘m, of the same address. Mustafa has since admitted to having conspired with Yusuf, stolen the mobile phones, sold some, and left the remaining ones with one Sani Garba, ‘m’, also of the same address.

The said Sani was subsequently arrested and a total of Three hundred and eighteen (318) Mobile Phones were recovered from the three suspects. All the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of police investigation.

Meanwhile, the State Command, through its Chief, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has urged residents in the State to keep reporting any suspicious movement, person(s), or item(s) they come across, to the nearest Police Station.
