The 661 Nigerian Air Force Hospital, Ikeja, has secured full accreditation for its Optometry Services and Internship Training following a comprehensive assessment by the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN).
NAF stated on Tuesday that the accreditation exercise, led by the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Dr Obinna Edwin Awiaka, evaluated the hospital’s optometric services, facilities, clinical standards and capacity to provide quality internship training in line with professional and regulatory requirements. The hospital was subsequently granted full accreditation, valid for four years.
TheFact Daily notes that the accreditation reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s broader commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, developing competent healthcare professionals and ensuring that its medical facilities meet established professional standards.
The accreditation team was received by the Commander, 661 NAF Hospital, Air Commodore AS Oyenusi; Officer Commanding, Eye Clinic, Flight Lieutenant CP Pedro; and other members of the hospital management.
The achievement also aligns with the vision and strategic priorities of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, while supporting the objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Health Agenda.
With the accreditation, the hospital joins other reputable healthcare institutions approved for optometry services and internship training, further reinforcing its role as a centre for quality patient care, professional development and service excellence.
