No Major Attack On Abuja-Kaduna Highway, Rail Corridor In Four Years – Army
By Anne Osemekeh, Abuja
The Nigerian Army has attributed the sustained security along the Abuja-Kaduna highway and rail corridor to proactive military operations, saying no major security incident has been recorded on the strategic route in the past four years.
Commander of Sub Sector 4, Operation FANSAN YANMA, Sector 1, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Col. I.R. Adom, stated this on Wednesday during a media tour of military formations in Kaduna organised for defence correspondents.
Adom said troops deployed along the corridor have maintained relentless pressure on bandits and other criminal elements, ensuring safer movement for commuters and protecting critical national infrastructure and surrounding communities.
He noted that security forces recently rescued kidnapped victims along the Katari-Gurara axis, an area previously affected by insecurity, adding that travellers can now move through the route without major disturbances.
The commander also disclosed that troops regularly conduct offensive operations against criminal groups and are sustaining efforts to deny bandits freedom of action within the operational area.
He further revealed that a recent clash between rival bandit groups along the Rijana and Gwagwada axes resulted in casualties among the criminals, describing the violence as a fallout of disputes over cattle rustling activities.
Adom assured residents that the military would continue aggressive operations to maintain security along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor and urged the public to support security agencies with credible intelligence.
