FCT Police Arraign Three Over Guzape Murder

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arraigned three persons before FCT High Court 13 in connection with the alleged murder of Adimike Godwin in the Guzape area of Abuja.

Disclosing this on Monday, the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the court ordered that the three defendants, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade, be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter until September 30, 2026, for further proceedings.

Police said the incident occurred on May 15, 2026, after officers at the Guzape Divisional Headquarters received a distress call from a relative who reported being unable to reach the deceased.

Detectives who responded to the scene reportedly found Godwin unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

According to the Police, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, directed a comprehensive investigation, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including the deceased’s two children, his driver and gateman.

At the conclusion of the investigation, prosecutors filed charges against Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade, while the remaining two suspects were not charged.

The three defendants were arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide, and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

Police said all three were jointly charged with conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide over the death of Adimike Godwin.

In addition, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony faces a separate charge of allegedly entering into a same-sex civil union, while Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were jointly charged with the same offence under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

The FCT Police Command said it remains committed to ensuring justice for victims of crime while respecting the constitutional rights of all persons throughout the judicial process.
