Police Denies Officers Involved In Nkpor Killing

The Anambra State Police Command has clarified that officers linked to the arrest preceding the death of Mr. Paul Onwualu in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, are not attached to the State Command, even as investigations into the incident continue.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said it has commenced a full investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death and ensure that all facts are properly ascertained.

According to preliminary information, Mr. Onwualu was reportedly taken into custody following an incident in Nkpor, after which he allegedly developed a sudden health complication. He was said to have been rushed for medical attention but was later confirmed dead, raising public concern over the events leading to his arrest and subsequent death.

The Police assured members of the public that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness, noting that efforts are ongoing to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, urged residents to remain calm and allow the investigation to run its course, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the protection of lives and property.

The Command added that further updates will be communicated as investigations progress.
